Hello everyone. My name is William Winship and I am the CEO Portico. And today I want to describe to you portable business advanced 10.0 this has taken us years to assemble is really based on the book that we’ve written called portals of inspiration connected to safe power. During the process of research, we were able to uncover some key elements that actually drive profitability in businesses and organizations.
And really it’s about helping to remove dysfunction. And so as the journey from dysfunction to harmony, and of course profit is in the process, it takes time. And really you do need to have a process. So it’s innovation, collaboration, mobilization. And I’m gonna describe that a little more detail here in this slide.
It begins at the very baseline with the concept of trust. The trust is critical to building businesses and organizations. If you’re going to move into this next adventure of business. Trust is really the commodity that is really driving profitability and without trust, you really cannot build long term sustaining organizations.
The next is really, it’s mastering conflict. It’s learning how to deal with conflict. Conflict is part of organizations and organizational development. It’s important not to avoid conflict, but you’re really mastered to actually move into it and really get some clarity through that. And then it’s about achieving commitment, having people engaged.
We’ve learned that engagement is low in business and organizations, and so what does it take to really create engagement in an among the rank and file of your organization? Then it’s about embracing accountability. Accountability is a commodity. It really is very important to have accountability in your business and organization, and it’s something that people talk about.
But when it comes down to really having true authentic accountability, there’s a process involved in that and we help you understand what that process is and help you to identify those things that will help you to ultimately focus on. Results being a results oriented business. And of course, if you take a look at the bottom, it’s about innovation, collaboration, and mobilization.
And really that is the process. So here is the dysfunction, number one, according to Patrick Lancey, in his most recent book around dysfunction. And it’s. Absence of trust. The second does function as fear of conflict dysfunction. Number three is lack of commitment. Dysfunction. Four is avoidance of accountability and dysfunction.
Number five is inattention to results. Now, if you’re really honest and you evaluate where you are, you may notice that there are some areas here that you just don’t want to deal or you don’t feel like dealing. And of course there’s pain involved. Sometimes it actually dealing with some of those things and it’s easier to continue to stay.
In that safe place in the bubble, if you will, of your safety, rather than actually having to come out of your bubble and actually dealing with some of those issues that really keep you up at night. And so we’re talking about really organizational health, ultimately creating optimum culture so that the business itself is going to grow.
So here’s our strategic map. We call it the blueprints. Very simply. It begins with a dissecting the business into four quadrants, marketing, communication, operations, organization, service and deliverables. And then it’s about having a clear path to follow. And so each one of these subsection trainings, leadership, branding, culture, alignment, trust, character, relationship, and passion are part of the training.
As we go through four quadrants of business, the four quadrants consists of.
Number two, creating clarity. Number three, overcoming clarity. And finally reinforcing that clarity. Why is that important? Because provision follows clarity. The more clear you can become and your organization becomes, especially in relationship to what we refer to as the triple win, you win. Those who serve within your organization, wind and those who are being served wins.
So it’s a triple win and it’s critical to consider those because that’s what creates the longterm sustainability. So in quadrant number one, again, is building the cohesive team. Those are the two sub trainings that exist in that particular quadrant. Quadrant number two is going to be operations. And it’s about creating clarity.
And of course the subsection trainings are culture and alignment. And then there is quadrant number three, which is over communicating clarity, making sure that you are very, very, very clear at first. And then you communicate that throughout the rank and file so that the culture itself is informed. And the two subsection trainings are trust and character.
Reinforce that clarity. There’s a conclusion to the matter. This is quadrant number four where we’re really focused on two trainings called passion and relationship. And you know, today, businesses, organizations are built based on relationships. The. Real currency today is relational. You don’t do much without having high quality relationships.
So we teach you the importance of that. And of course, there’s a real algorithm, mathematical formula, if you will, that we have learned that that is proving itself to produce profit and business and organizations. It’s not so important that you build widgets. It’s probably more important that you understand the key elements that drive profit as you’re building those widgets.
So that is critical there. And then what we’re talking about is the process. There actually has to be a process and it begins when they heavy lifting at the very base. It takes a lot of work. And ultimately our goal as a business concern is to leave a legacy of leaders. So how are we going to do that?
While it’s going to be. Through this process of innovation, collaboration, and mobilization. And of course you’ll see we’re integrating the build a cohesive team, creating clarity over communicated clarity, and then ultimately reinforcing that it’s moving the organization from good to great to excellence, excellence being the standard.
And these are the subsection trainings that we’re referring to here. These are the vital learnings. These are the areas that when you truly understand the relevancy of these areas, that your business really begins to skyrocket. It’s critical to understand these are vital. They’re vital because they’re critical to your operations.
And so those are the critical variables that if you know them, it will drive profitability. So it’s very crucial that. Those pieces are in place. And of course our unique factor is the measured success aspect. You know, some of you are probably familiar with some of these super instance, that basic disc test.
It gives you a pretty good indication and understanding of really how you see the world. And then there’s the how to fascinate and that really gives you a pretty clear understanding of how the world sees you. Looking at both of those and comparison gives you some concurrency. It helps you to even further advance.
And then it’s about leadership, understanding the key elements that actually make up a leader. And then it’s StrengthFinders understand your major strengths, those strengths that you should be working out of to be more optimal. And then it’s about understanding the depth of emotional intelligence. And ultimately we’re moving into the final factor, which is the five dysfunctions of a cohesive team integrated with the disc.
So this is the unique factor that we have as we actually are going through all of these metrics and the long list, the training that we do. So we begin again with the base. It’s the intro, building trust, mastering conflict, achieving commitment, embracing accountability, focusing on results and review and action plan.
Making sure that you have your own strategic map. At the end of this process. And so for us, that’s critical as well. And so some of the basic tools that we use on a business consulting level would be, for instance, the basic SWOT, the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats, developing your core values, making sure your goals are in alignment personally and professionally.
Making sure that the current vision is actually keeping time. Making sure that the mission of the organization is real, and then what is the competitive advantage? We want to make sure that you actually have a competitive advantage because we like our clients to win because when they win, we win, and the community we serve win.
So there’s the triple win again. And so it’s about ultimately practicing what you preach and that’s moving you into a business that we have been creating. All of our life is called growing paradise together. It’s actually a development company, as you know, it has to have a good foundation. The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.
Proverbs 21 verse five you know, one of my favorite verses in the Bible, it says, do you see a man diligent in his work? He’ll stand before Kings and not mere men. The idea here is how you build your business and organization is crucial. Integrity starts in your house. And so true integrity is part of the development process and how you build from that core is going to determine how great of a company you make.
So I want to talk about that a bit. It begins by having some kind of a. A mission for us. It’s leaving a legacy of leaders in the wake of the work that we do through our relational excellence, optimized living learning that we do together. If we’re going to build something great. Certainly we’re going to have to have some kind of a plan.
And for us at the very tip of that plan is coffee consulting and coaching. You know, the Bible says in a multitude of counselors, there is safety. It’s crucial to have counsel in your life. And so I have a group of people around me going around this organization that I can tap into and they can tap into me and we can learn from each other.
So we’re really collaboratively building this. And so it’s not just a one man show. I really liked the coffee because I believe in heaven there’s got to be coffee in heaven. Uh, so coffee is part of the concept here. And, uh, I think it’s good to have a meeting with a good cup of coffee or tea. We have both.
I am coffee and the weekend tea, so we actually have both. Yeah. As part of the, uh, part of the process of growing paradise together, you noticed the golden umbrella. The concept of having a golden umbrella is you need to have intercessors, people that are actually covering you in prayer, people that love you enough to pray for you daily, sometimes moment by moment.
And so all of our businesses are covered by this golden umbrella of intercessors, just who love the Lord. And then underneath that umbrella are the actual businesses. One example would be a heating, cooling, and plumbing business landscape, architecture and installation, agriculture, farming and growing real estate management and leasing, general construction, design, build and remodel.
Many of you may actually own companies that actually do similar work, and maybe you are actually under that umbrella. I’m not sure. But the whole idea is as you’re building for a greater future, you’re under the protection of what I’m calling the a group of intercessors. And so these businesses are being prayed for each and every day, and they’re grown with integrity.
That’s why we call this a development company. And then at the very base is the adventure, the missions, the entertainment. You know, plainly, just having fun, fun is so vital to building a quality organization and does us, we can get too busy working and forget to have recreation. So we’ve got to put some balance in the equation of building this dynamic organization that we’re calling growing paradise together.
The season right now that we’re in is a season that I’m going to call, it’s not the innovation season because that was last year, but this year we’re actually going through a season when I’m calling collaboration, and then next year is going to be mobilizing those leaders to other nations. And so I want to talk about that because.
What does actually look like to leave a legacy of leaders in the wake of the work that you do? There has to be a process and it really does include heavy lifting. The concept here is that storms are certain, we think about hurricanes that have actually destroyed an earthquake that actually destroyed communities.
And uh, as an example, there was a hurricane that went through Lancaster, Pennsylvania some years ago. And my friend to organize all the local contractors then went through and they made repairs and did just a tremendous work because they came together around a rally cry, and today we are actually called the rally cry is actually higher because it’s like we’ve gone through an earthquake of sorts.
With a hurricane that’s come through and as time to rebuild nations is time to rebuild our nation. America is time to rebuild Canada and, and, and Haiti, and, and, and, uh, uh, Israel, some nations, and, and revitalize the nations so that the world can be. A better place. In order to do that, there has to be a process and for us it begins with a concept of innovation, collaboration, and mobilizing.
Moving from good to great to excellence, excellence being the standard. This, by the way, is an improvement curve, and on the left hand side, you’re seeing principles to actually achieve success. As an example, think triple win. What is a triple win? Well, that means that I win. You win. And the community that we serves wins, that’s a triple win until there’s a triple win in place, it can be a bit self serving.
So we have to look at the big picture. How does America win and how does the world win? So we’re looking at the triple win. When we begin to think about these bigger things. Sometimes it comes down to the details. What are you doing at home? Are you winning at home? If you’re not winning at home, stay home.
Make sure that your winning at home, you’ve got to make sure that your home front is secure before you go out and change the world. You’ve got to make sure your home is a secure place for your wife and your family. So it begins at home, and then you begin to move out and you build a city. And then once you built a said, he began to develop a nation.
And so it begins with that process. And actually, by the way, that’s actually all biblical. So it really is time. For many people to have a fresh start. The Bible says, without a vision, the people quit caring, that cast off restraint. They just, they do whatever they want to do. And we’re seeing a lot of that.
So we need a vision for this next generation, something that they can believe in and be a part of. And, um, I believe that they’re crying out for that. So it begins by actually having a blueprint, knowing where you’re going, having a process. In the first quadrant we talked about building cohesive leadership teams.
The second quadrant, we’re talking about creating clarity and then over communicating that clarity and finally reinforcing that clarity with a plan of action and moving forward. In all of this. Often we hear things like, what are your core values? Or I’m going to call them behavioral values. Although core values would be true.
These are the non negotiables. These are the items that you actually have ingrained in you and they’re the part of your DNA as part of your structure. This is where you’re not negotiating with a team members. This is what is absolute as an example for us is passion. It’s when you’re most alive, abiding and purpose, remaining faithful, risking everything and knowing that it’s worth it.
Having a passion at the core of your being. Trust is another value, behavioral value or core value. It’s developed over time. It’s a product of integrity is driven by action behavior, and it costs when you compromise. The next is character. Character is the DNA of an organization. It leads with responsibility.
It is a discipline of safe power. It has authority and accountability. The next behavioral Valier is honor. Honor is the awareness of others’ talent, respect and appreciation. Seeing value in others, affirming and raising others up. Behavioral value. Number five is humility. It’s not a lack of courage. It requires confidence.
It’s a result of loving service. It pays the costs that others don’t. Number six is kindness. Kindness is generous. It’s expressed through gratitude, it’s other centered, it’s empathetic and supportive, warm hearted. And then finally, fun. Having fun, having an enjoyable working environment, enjoying where you’re working in joy that you have work to do, celebrating achievements, laughing together, a sincere smile, joyful and amusing.
I like to laugh. It’s fun. So what is the real mission in life? So many people are searching for their mission. Well, here is a mission religion that is pure and undefiled before God. The father is this to visit the orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained from the word. What about a commission?
What is the commission? Well, being commissioned to actually go do something. You know, the great commission. Then the 11 disciples went to Galilee, to the mountains where Jesus had told them to go. They saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, all authority in heaven on earth has been given to me.
Therefore, go. And make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and the son and the Holy spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you and surely I am always with you or with you always to the very end of the age, so you’re not alone in this journey. This journey is about living a life with no regrets.
It’s about leaving a legacy of leaders in the wake of the work that you do is crucial. And so it can also be fun. So what does it look like growing paradise together? It begins by developing an authentic city, a city where God is invited to be a part of the bigger work. So we’re going to develop a city, we’re going to call it an authentic city.
It’s a city that’s authorized by God to perform and to do the greater things. It’s a city where people work together for the glory of God and understand the importance of that work. Let’s take a look at Abraham by faith. Abraham when called to go to a place, he would later receive an inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
By faith. He made his home in the promised land, like a stranger in a foreign country. He lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob who were with him, and the same promise for he was looking forward to the city with foundations whose architect and builder is, God. And by faith. Even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was it able to bear children because she considered him faithful, who had made the promise?
And so from this one man, and he as good as dead. Came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand in the seashore. Here’s the point. Every man needs to know that they’re victorious and every woman needs to know. That they are precious. If a woman knew how precious she is in the sight of God, she would behave so much differently.
And if a man knew how victorious he is in Christ, he would behave so much differently. And it is truly about understanding that our wives and our daughters are precious. Our fathers, our brothers, our sons. Are victorious and teaching them to know their identity in this place called paradise.
